Life is more than just what we can see and touch. Sadly, to many, life, existence, is just about what can be seen and touched.
Jesus speaks to Nicodemus in John 3. Nicodemus is a Pharisee, a religious leader. He is someone trained and taught in the things of the law, the things of God. He couldn’t deny what he saw through Jesus. Nicodemus came to Jesus in the night, not wanting to be found out, and recognized Jesus’ power and authority.
Jesus answered in John 3:3: - “I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again.” Nicodemus misunderstood and thought Jesus was talking about being born a second time. Jesus was talking about being born from above. We have an earthly birth. Flesh gives birth to flesh. There is also a spiritual birth that takes place, from above, that allows one to see and recognize the kingdom of God. This birth is from the Spirit.
Jesus kind of chastised Nicodemus because he was one of Israel’s teachers and he didn’t know or recognize the spiritual birth, or see the kingdom of God. Nicodemus knew life to be what can be seen and touched. He lived in the flesh.
Live in and by the Spirit today. Know that because you believe in Christ for salvation, you have been reborn from above. Your perspective is not just earthly and tangible. Life is more. The Spirit’s life is more.
