Hebrews 11 is known as the Hall of Faith. Such great stories and examples of God’s people living out their faith. It’s here that we learn about faith. Many times we can read of the contrast between what is seen and touched, and what cannot be seen - what is tangible and what is intangible.
The word “see” has many variations of meanings in the Bible, some literal and some figurative, depending on context. It also means that which we pay attention to, and are aware of.
How do we pay attention to that which we cannot literally see? How do we remain aware of something that’s not tangibly in front of us? That’s faith.
It’s not a fairy tale, it’s not a magical story, it’s not fantasy, but it’s confidence and trust in God.
It’s faith that pushes us toward the hope which is deposited in our heart. It’s faith that leads us to places in which we’ve never been before with assurance that all will be ok. It’s faith that gives us the bigger picture of our lives and not allows us to get lost in fear and doubt. It’s faith that helps us take a step on nothing but trusts in the something we put our foot upon.
It’s faith, Hebrews says, that you must have to please God. Don’t live your life only by what you can literally see and touch. Live your life by faith today - step out and trust in God. He will never let you down.
