It’s good to take stock of your life, to evaluate your life on a frequent basis. From time to time we have such a great temptation to fall into a deceptive trap in which we look at all the good things in our lives and begin to take pride in our accomplishment. When we arrogantly think the accomplishments or blessings in our lives are from our own hands, we have lost the connection to the One who gave them to us in the first place.
However, when we take a look at our lives through God’s holy perspective, we can have a right and true picture of what’s going on.
David said, “Lord, apart from you I have no good thing.” Without the Lord, away from the Lord, detached and disconnected from the Lord, the good things we see are the results of our own hands and work. But connected to His perspective, we know the same as James declares - every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Heavenly Father who does not change like shifting shadows.
When we declare, “Lord, apart from you I have no good thing!” We are in agreement with our Creator, Provider, Protector, and Blesser. We don’t take ownership of our successes, but we take ownership of our relationship and the Lord as our everything.
