We are curious beings. There’s something within us that makes us search for greater things. Some of us are scientists that search for facts and breakthroughs. Some of us are detectives that search for clues in order to solve crimes. Some of us are gossips that search for juicy information about other people. Some of us are like cats, just curious about everything. We want to know what we don’t know. And even in what we know, we want to know why we know.
Years ago this phrase in Colossians 2 just struck me, “in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.”
The mystery of God, the reason why things happen in times of old, the meaning behind the narrative of God’s love from the first word of creation in Genesis to present day - is Christ. And in Christ, are all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.
That tells me that Christ is everything and in Christ is found everything.
We have a longing within us, one that can be filled and completed only in our relationship with God in Christ. But we search and search for other things, just hoping and hoping that maybe this or that can quite that drive to keep searching.
Our faith, though, keeps us pointing to Christ. If we want to know true wisdom and knowledge, it’s in the fullness of Christ. If we want to experience the deep mysteries of God and this universe revealed and unfolded, it’s in the fullness of Christ.
May our search continue, but only in Christ.
