There is a conflict that happens in each one of us. Because we have chosen to follow Christ by faith, we are under a new kingdom rule. We have been given the Holy Spirit as our guide and teacher. No longer do we have the guide and influence of our own selves and desires as our leader. This is where the conflict happens.
We are saved by faith in the grace of God. We are not saved by our own Godly or righteous works. However, we do have an expectation placed upon us, a responsibility upon us, to live a life that is led by the Spirit. But we still have a human nature.
Even though we are saved, that doesn’t mean the temptation to follow our human nature is absent. You know as well as I do, sometimes that human nature voice is way too loud. It can be a bully. But bullies for the most part, are all bark and no bite.
If we live by the Spirit, we can always rely on the Spirit to be stronger and a more powerful presence than the bully inside, than the bully of sin in the world. We don’t have to gratify or complete the pushing and pressure of our human nature.
There is a conflict that happens in each one of us. There is a choice given to each one of us. We can listen to the bully of our human nature or be led by the Spirit of a Holy God. I choose to live by the Spirit.
