I talk a lot. If you get me in a one on one conversation, probably not that much though. But I am in a couple of positions where it's necessary that I speak a lot. I mean, pointing and face smirks isn't ideal with radio. Only smiling and nodding do not work well speaking to groups of people either.
I try very hard to say the right things in the right way. It doesn't always happen though. And I'll admit, at times I may work harder on my inflection and non descript regional dialect than I do on the content of my words.
But I also know of the power and wisdom in saying nothing.
In just a quick read through of Proverbs 10, there's at least 15 references to the impact of what we say. Wisdom or foolishness comes out through our lips. And there's no amount of diction practice that can stop it from happening. It all depends on the state of your heart - the wisdom that comes from righteousness.
I truly do value words, however, I value wisdom more.
Proverbs 10:19 - "When words are many, sin is not absent, but he who holds his tongue is wise."
Lord, give me the wisdom to know when to keep my mouth shut!
