The world is in motion. It started turning and circling the sun with the command of God, even without you having anything to do with it. The clock ticks away. Even the clocks that run out of battery life or the ones in which the inside mechanics fail to work can’t stop the ticking away of every second. There are a million other things about this beautiful life that carry on day after day without the say so or control of our hands.
God, in His Sovereignty, is in control. God, in His Omniscience and Omnipotence, has never lost control of anything in this world. We have so many questions of why and how can things so terrible in this world happen if that’s the case. Does God make terrible things happen? Does God turn the wheels of motion of evil and terror? Of course not. But God has never lost control.
We, however, want control. We want to work out everything how we see best. We want to think we are sovereign over our lives, our choices, our destiny. But that’s kind of ridiculous to think with the knowledge that the Creator of everything has compete say so.
Instead of trying to make things happen for our own good and reputation, instead of thinking that we have the last word on any subject, instead of thinking that we are responsible for keeping this world in motion - let’s just agree with the hand and work of God. It’s not for our own purposes that we even live and breathe, but for His. As we submit to His will, we find freedom in knowing that He knows what He’s doing. He will work it all out for His own ends, even justice and righteousness for the wrong and evil.
