Ephesians 4:17 - So I tell you this, and insist on it in the Lord, that you no longer live as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their thinking.

I’ve said it before, but I’m a sucker for a good sales pitch. Apparently, most people are because there are so many products on the market and so many commercials trying to sway people to a certain product. Commercials notwithstanding, this world constantly tries to persuade us into what is acceptable and not acceptable. It’s always changing the rules too. To stay on top of popular opinion and culture is sometimes a hard job. But then again, when you think like the world, it’s a pretty easy alignment.
The Apostle Paul teaches the Ephesians about the truth of God in Christ. The Head of the Church is Christ, and our responsibility is to be built up in Him, with that knowledge. That impacts every part of our lives, our actions and behaviors, and our thoughts. We must learn to separate ourselves from the world not governed by the rule of Christ as King.
Paul says, no longer allow yourselves to be drawn into the empty sales pitch and marketing scheme of the world. It is futile, meaning, it is empty and worthless and based on deception.
As we constantly say yes to the sales pitches of the world and change our clothes, cars, and smartwatches - let us say no to the worthless marketing pitch from the world that tries to govern our actions and behavior by an empty moral code that doesn’t make sense. Let’s separate our thoughts from the pointless way of this world to the productive way of Christ.
