We must have efficiency in our work.
I’ve heard from several different sources that multitasking is most times actually ineffective. Why do we multitask? We have so much to do at once, so many jobs or tasks to take care of that we do multiple things at once. Working in radio sounds like a pretty easy job. You turn the mic on and talk and then turn the mic off and don’t talk, then the music plays. However there are many multitasks that go on while the mic is on and I have had my fair share of on air flubs and mistakes.
Whether or not we multitask or are singular in the work we do, there is a efficient way to guarantee success.
Paul tells the church at Colosse that he works, he labors in the commission God gave him to preach the Word of God. He struggles and works, not with just his personal strength, but with the energy or the active working power of Christ. This power he receives from Christ is that efficiency he relies on.
Effectiveness in our work for the Lord doesn’t happen when we multitask to the limit or when we concentrate solely on one thing. It happens when our strength is His strength. It happens when our energy is His active working power. It happens when we rely on His effectiveness in completing the task He’s called us to and not just ours.
Do the work Christ has called you to today, but do it with all His energy that so powerfully works in you.
